Why I Created The Biggest Little Rack Attack

I don’t talk about this a lot.
But the reason this event exists is because of my mom.
On May 22, 2021, I lost her to breast cancer. It was the worst day of my life—and honestly, things haven’t felt quite the same since.
If you’ve ever lost someone like that, you know it’s not just grief. It’s this weird mix of sadness, anger, and helplessness. You sit there thinking, there has to be something I can do… anything.
For a long time, I didn’t do much with that feeling. I just carried it.
But this year—coming up on five years—I didn’t want to sit in it anymore.
I wanted to turn it into something.
Why this event matters
Breast cancer is one of those things that touches almost everyone in some way.Since losing my mom, I’ve watched more women in my life get diagnosed, fight, survive… and in some cases, not.
And it just keeps happening.
That’s the part that’s hard to accept.
But what is encouraging is that there are organizations out there actually making progress. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is one of them—they’re funding real research, real scientists, real breakthroughs.
And that gave me a different kind of thought:
What if something small could actually help?
Even something as simple as a group of people showing up, having fun, and contributing to something bigger.
Why a pub crawl?
Because it felt right.
Reno is a social city. People like to go out, connect, have a drink, laugh a little. So instead of creating something overly serious or heavy, I wanted to build something that felt:

social
easy to be part of
But still meaningful.
The idea is simple:Spend an afternoon going from spot to spot, meeting people, enjoying the city—and at the same time, contributing to research that could change someone else’s outcome.
What I hope this becomes
Right now, it’s one event.
But I’d love for it to grow into something Reno actually looks forward to—something that brings people together regularly for different causes, not just this one.
Something that proves you don’t have to choose between having a good time and doing something good.
